Creating a Nonprofit with Maximum Impact

Take this special opportunity to hear from Debby Weinberg, Co-founder and Chair of the Advisory Board of the Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center (the Center) on Creating a Non-Profit with Maximum Impact. Debby was hosted by the Harvard Business School Women's Association on March 7th, 2024 as part of their Impact 2024 series.

When Debby Weinberg realized that there were no services for her son with cerebral palsy when he reached adulthood, she and her husband Peter founded the Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center at Columbia University. Dedicated to improving the lives of people with cerebral palsy across the lifespan, the Center remains one of a few in the country which provides comprehensive multidisciplinary care to both children and adults.

Hear about Debby’s journey this past decade: what inspired Debby to create the Center; how she went about building an organization that not only delivers clinical services, but also conducts cutting edge research and provides medical education for the CP community; and of overcoming multiple challenges along the way. 

Debby Weinberg

Debby Weinberg received her BA in economics at Smith College and an MBA at Harvard Business School. Debby worked in finance at JPMorgan at the start of her career and took time off to raise her boys after her second son was born. When her third son was born and diagnosed with cerebral palsy, she decided to remain a full-time mom.

Debby has served on a number of boards, including the board of trustees at Smith College, Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors, the executive committee of Columbia University Medical Center Board of Advisors, and the Waterside School in Stamford, CT. In addition, she and her husband, Peter Weinberg, founded the Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center at Columbia University, in 2013, and chairs its advisory board.
