Sixth Annual Adaptive Ski Trip
On Friday, February 13th, 2025, the Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center (WFCPC) hosted our Sixth Annual Adaptive Ski Trip. Four patients and their family members joined us at Windham Mountain for a beautiful day of skiing and fun.
The patients participated in ski lessons, led by certified instructors from the Adaptive Sports Foundation, which provides sports and recreation opportunities to people with both cognitive and physical disabilities. At Windham they are equipped to provide experiences for a range of abilities. Our skiers were able to try the stand skis, mono sit skis, and the sledge. It was a special day for some of teenage skiers who were able to bond on the slopes and over lunch.
The WFCPC has been hosting annual ski trups for our patient families since 2019. The trip is led by Clinical Director, Joshua Hyman, MD, who is an avid skier. "One of my interests in neuromuscular care is getting our patients to participate in activities they might enjoy," shared Dr. Hyman, "Skiing may seem like something far out of their reach, but now there are magnificent adaptive ski programs at many mountains with sit-ski and stand-ski options. Our annual ski trip is a great day out for everyone."
We want to thank the volunteers at the Adaptive Sports Foundation, our patient families and our team for an unforgettable experience on the slopes!
