October 29, 2025

Nearly twenty members from the WFCPC's multidisciplinary team attended the 79th Annual AACPDM Conference in New Orleans this October. The conference brings together global experts in cerebral palsy to share information and ideas to bring the field forward.

Members from Columbia's Departments of Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Psychiatry and the WFCPC's Movement Recovery Lab joined the conference. The team shared eight podium presentations. Hana Azizi, MD made presentations on spasticity management across the lifespan, culturally sensitive care, and shared a multidisciplinary case discussion on treatment prioritization for patients with cerebral palsy and co-morbidities, alongside Minnelly Vasquez, LCSW, Agnes H. Whitaker, MD, Elisabeth Bates, MSN, CPNP-PC, and Eduardo del Rosario, Jr., PhD, FNP-BC. Jason B. Carmel, MD, PhD, and Jennifer M. Bain, MD, PhD moderated panels on neuro and basic science.

The team also presented seven posters, with topics covering Baclofen pump replacement, polypharmacy & anti-spasticity medication, a novel model in neuromuscular contracture, and WFCPC's CP Community Day.
