Continuing education program presented by the WFCPC and Cerebral Palsy Foundation
Join the Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation for Creating Connections: Lifespan Care, a comprehensive one-day education program on cerebral palsy care across the lifespan for healthcare professionals, researchers, people with cerebral palsy, families, and community partners.
Our annual Lindenauer Lecture will also be part of this event. Guest speaker Konrad Kording, PhD, will discuss the topic, "What Can AI Do For People with Cerebral Palsy?"
The event is open to all members of the community. Participants are welcome to join all or select sessions of interest. Participants who care for and support people with cerebral palsy can obtain continuing education credits for their attendance. Please see details below and here.
10:00AM - 11:45AM: Continuing Education for Healthcare Professionals
The morning professional program will feature three learning tracks addressing the changing needs of people with cerebral palsy across the lifespan:
- Young Children (0–3 years) — early detection and diagnosis, genetics, and early intervention
- School-Aged Children — orthopedic care, spasticity and dystonia management, mental health, and wellbeing
- Adults & Transition — transition to adult care, musculoskeletal health, preventive healthcare, and long-term management
11:45AM - 1:00PM: Lunch & Connection Hour
A Lunch & Connection Hour will serve as the bridge between the professional and family programs, creating an opportunity for clinicians, families, individuals with CP, and community organizations to connect. Resource tables will highlight supports and opportunities across research, schools, employment, disability services, recreation and sports, and community programs.

Topic: What can AI Do For People with Cerebral Palsy?
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how we work, think, and practice medicine.
In this year’s Lindenauer Lecture, Konrad Kording, PhD, will unpack how modern AI really works, and how clinicians and innovators can use it not just for answers, but as a collaborator to spark new ideas, test assumptions, and strengthen decision-making.
He’ll then bring AI to the bedside with a compelling example in cerebral palsy: using video to capture movement, detect subtle patterns, and support earlier diagnosis and more precise assessment. Drawing on his own research, Dr. Kording will explore how these tools could reshape how clinicians recognize and evaluate movement disorders, and what that shift could mean for the future of diagnosis and clinical care.

2:00PM - 3:30PM: Continuing Education Workshops for Healthcare Professionals and Community
Following lunch, CP Connect will welcome individuals with cerebral palsy and their families for an afternoon of accessible education, conversation, and connection. These interactive discussions are designed to help families navigate care and make informed decisions. Topics will include evaluating alternative and complementary therapies and exploring what meaningful multidisciplinary care looks like for people with cerebral palsy at different stages of life.

Who should attend?
Physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, social workers, early intervention providers, educators, and other professionals who care for and support people with cerebral palsy.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Strengthen knowledge of evidence-based cerebral palsy care from early childhood through adulthood.
- Translate current research and best practices into community-based clinical care.
- Identify key consideratons for assessment, intervention, and ongoing management at different staages of life.
- Apply multidisciplinary and person- and family-centered approaches to care.
- Strengthen connections between community professionals and specialized cerebral palsy expertise and resourses.
Continuing Education Credits
The Cerebral Palsy Foundation is recognized by the New York State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners to approve up to 4.5 continuing education hours.
A Cerebral Palsy Foundation Certificate of Participation is available to verify attendance up to 4.5 hours for practitioners who engage in this professional development activity.
