What Can AI Do For People with Cerebral Palsy?
Join us at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, 1pm, at 1PM ET for the 13th Marilyn R. Lindenauer Distinguished Speaker Series. We will host Konrad Kording, PhD, Penn Integrated Knowledge Professor, University of Pennsylvania, who will speak on the topic, "What Can AI Do For People With Cerebral Palsy?"
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how we work, think, and practice medicine. In this year’s Lindenauer Lecture, Konrad Kording, PhD will offer a look at how modern AI works and how clinicians, researchers, and innovators can use these tools, not simply as sources of information, but as partners for exploring ideas, challenging assumptions, and improving decision-making.
He will then turn to an application of AI in cerebral palsy: using video to analyze movement and detect patterns that could support earlier diagnosis and assessment. Drawing on his research in cerebral palsy, Dr. Kording will explore how AI could transform the way clinicians recognize and evaluate movement disorders, while considering what these advances may mean for the future of diagnosis and clinical care.
The lecture will conclude with an interactive discussion, giving attendees an opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and consider how AI might responsibly complement, not replace, clinical expertise.
The Lindenauer Lecture 2026 is especially meaningful this year as it’s part of Creating Connections: Lifespan Care, our full day education event with the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Konrad Kording, PhD
Penn Integrates Knowledge Professor, University of Pennsylvania
Co-Director, CIFAR Learning in Machines & Brains Program
Dr. Kording is a pioneer of computational neuroscience. He is redefining the boundaries between neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and causal inference. As Penn Integrates Knowledge (PIK) Professor, he leads pioneering research on how brains and AI systems solve the credit assignment problem—determining what actions led to success or failure. His radical perspective that deep learning only makes sense through evolutionary thinking has influenced how the field approaches AI development.
As Co-Director of the CIFAR Learning in Machines & Brains Program, Konrad oversees the collective intellectual development of this prestigious program which includes over 30 Fellows, Advisors, and Global Scholars working to understand the computational and mathematical principles behind learning in both biological and artificial systems. The program brings together international scientists to examine how artificial neural networks could be inspired by the human brain and to advance the field of deep learning.
